Review of Elsbeth

Someone recommended it when I was looking for a comedic episodic show and we ended up watching Elsbeth.

Not a show I would have ever watched in the past; it's in the category of the mentalist and all those other shows but somehow it's charming.

Every episode shows who did it then Elsbeth is figuring out who and why while up against a lazy corrupt department and system. It's that simple.

No big shoot outs. Improbable crimes. Silly and Fluffy. What I enjoy is the cast. Unlike monk no one is annoying. Elsbeth is quirky and her slapstick physical comedy is so over the top that one can't help but laugh. She truly is the show.

Nathan Lane and Vanessa Williams already guest starred.

If you need something to help you sleep this is the show.

Canada and Switzerland and language

I couldn't quickly figure out what the French language issue was actually about.

Canada has two official languages. Bilingualism is a must on all government documents. In parts of Quebec people refuse to speak anything but Quebecois. Therefore any packaged goods are bilingual. It's about labels on trade products.

Switzerland's population voted against joining the EU. It has four official languages and does most of its trades in English based on trade agreements.

Telling another country not to be multilingual...?

Please don't insult politicians, but I'm running out of sighs.

Pop psychology

I did a quick AI search on the dangers of pop Psychology and it summarized it pretty well. Here it is:

LLMs (large language models) reflect what they see on the internet. The good news is some of the sources are speaking up. (One of them is the University of Colorado). With increased prevalence from good sources what has been happening may be reversed.

The causation of harm through misinformation.

I'm just writing a brief post on this for now. a few years back a number of books were published on Sociopaths. People started calling everyone a narcissist.

The public was throwing around terms they didn't understand engaging in slander and defamation. It was rampant. Armchair therapy, pseudoscience laymen diagnosing other people.

Terms that people didn't understand were being applied to others. Insulting, because many of these terms described very serious behavioral abnormalities and serious disorders.

I will add to this topic.

The advice for now; don't believe everything you read on the internet.

Here we are. Are you a plant?

I cannot get into details but I was basically bullied over a science fact, which became personal.

So for now the other blog is private. And I do not have the time or inclination to keep changing blogs.

I need to make this fun again art scifi science not experience what is going on in real life or the world in this space. I schedule time for that.

Every now and then there's venting.

Some people have been amazing. Others have allowed bad behavior to rub off on them and I do not want to learn or be exposed to that behavior.

Still dealing with some health issues that are making me cranky.

Unrelated I've been watching strange new worlds. It's almost a spoof of startrek. Not great but enjoyable. They have comedic one offs and I chuckle everytime I think of the one i saw last night; the crew is inebriated by something and Spock 🖖 is doing mind melds with plants. Then thinks the crew are plants.

That's the mood I need to be in. The humor. Not the plant part.

Im back

 For now I'm here.
